While all of us rabid Stranger Things fans anxiously await Season 2 later this year when it releases on Netflix, thankfully we won’t have to wait too long to get our first taste. Entertainment Weekly has scored the first official photo from Season 2, along with the news that the first official teaser will debut this Sunday during the Super Bowl.
The first photo is all kinds of the 80’s retro awesome that fans loved about Stranger Things with the boys all dressed up as Ghostbusters at school, seemingly on Halloween. Take a look:
As you can see, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) are back on the case and ready to bust some ghosts…or Demogorgons? Season 2 is set in 1984, one year after the events of the first season and little else is known about what is going on with Eleven, the Sheriff and the rest of the town favorites since the filming has been shrouded in secrecy.
Executive producer Shawn Levy did give EW this small tidbit though:
“The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.”
No official release date has been announced for Stranger Things Season 2, but it will most likely be in the late summer of fall.
