Yet another jaw-dropping gameplay demonstration took place during Microsoft’s E3 press conference, this time for Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the latest installment in the long-running Ubisoft franchise. The title finds series protagonist Sam Fisher dropped into the Middle East, where a group of nations are plotting to wage war on American soil. Check out the demo, thanks to IGN.
Fans of the series might notice that Michael Ironside, the voice of Sam Fisher since the original Splinter Cell, is nowhere to be found in this footage. That’s because Ubisoft has decided to utilize full performance capture for the first time in the franchise, and the 62-year-old veteran actor wouldn’t have been capable of fulfilling the physical demands of the role, which has now been taken over by Smallville actor Eric Johnson.
In addition to the gameplay demo, a CG trailer for Splinter Cell: Blacklist was also unveiled, which sets the tone for what to expect when the title is released in Spring 2013.
