Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to star in “The Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide.”

It’s been quite a year for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.  After returning to box office glory in the mega-hit Fast Five, he hosted Wrestlemania XXVII for the WWE, then went into production on G.I. Joe: Retaliation.  He’ll be lacing up the wrestling boots this month for the first time in years to headline WWE’s Survivor Series, and Deadline reports that he just inked a deal to star in comic adaptation The Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide, produced by Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).

The film will be based on a five-issue limited series by John Paul Russ that was printed earlier this year.  I’ll admit to being completely unfamiliar with the property, but Kinberg did some great work with First Class, and I’ll see “The Rock” in just about anything.  More on this as it develops.
