One of the most anticipated films of 2017 is Christopher Nolan’s WWII epic Dunkirk, which marks new territory for the director of The Dark Knight, Inception and The Prestige as he takes on a historical drama about one of the most grueling battles of the conflict, and the mass evacuation that saved the lives of more than 300,000 Allied soldiers.

This looks every bit as enormous as a Christopher Nolan WWII film should look, and the director’s commitment to using period-accurate ships and planes instead of relying on CG should make for a more immersive experience.
Dunkirk features Nolan regulars Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy, along with Mary Rylance, Kenneth Branagh and newcomer Fionn Whitehead. The film will hit theaters on July 21, 2017.
