‘Doctor Who’ Season 9 Prologue Raises Many Questions

Doctor Who returns for its ninth season in just over a week and the BBC has graced Who-vians with a two-minute prologue that leads into the premiere. Things are very mysterious and a bit confusing, so you should probably just jump right in and experience it for yourself.

You can view the Doctor Who Season 9 Prologue via the BBC’s YouTube page below:

So Capaldi’s current Doctor returns to Karn, the crazy Mustafar-like planet, that was last seen in the tremendous short Night of the Doctor. In that short that led into Day of the Doctor, we saw the previously unseen regeneration of Paul McGann’s Doctor into the very unexpected body of William Hurt’s The War Doctor, via the Sisters of Karn. Why would Capaldi’s Doctor be giving the Sisters his “Last Will and Testament?” What’s he even doing there? What on Gallifrey is going on here??

Who-vians will find out when Doctor Who returns in The Magicians Apprentice on September 19 on BBC America. For now, we’ll leave you with the official synopsis of the episode:

“Where is the Doctor? When the skies of Earth are frozen by a mysterious alien force, Clara needs her friend. But where is the Doctor, and what is he hiding from?

As past deeds come back to haunt him, old enemies will come face-to-face, and for the Doctor and Clara survival seems impossible.”
