Fans who flocked to the theater this weekend to catch Hugh Jackman’s final performance as Wolverine in the critically acclaimed Logan were treated to a surprise: a special teaser trailer for Deadpool 2. Production on the film hasn’t officially begun, but the footage was directed by David Leitch, who will find himself behind the camera when Deadpool 2 begins shooting later this year.
If you haven’t checked out Logan yet, don’t worry – earlier this morning, 20th Century Fox released an official version of the Deadpool 2 teaser, which is actually a bit longer than the theatrical version, and features some different music. You can check it out right here.
Based on this clip, it’s safe to assume that the sequel will be every bit as violent and profane as the original film – and considering that Deadpool grossed more than $783 million worldwide, there’s no reason to change up the formula.
Deadpool 2 has no official release date, but is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2018. Ryan Reynolds is set to reprise his role as the Merc With the Mouth (obviously), while Stranger Things star David Harbour is reportedly being considered for the role of Cable.
