‘Daredevil’ Season 2 Trailer: The Devil’s Work is Never Done

When Daredevil arrived on Netflix last year to nearly universal acclaim from fans and critics alike, it marked the beginning of a lengthy partnership between Marvel Studios and the streaming network. The overwhelmingly positive response led the studio to quickly greenlight a second season, and the success of Jessica Jones only served to increase the anticipation for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to return.

Thanks to a new teaser trailer that dropped on Twitter this morning, we know when that return is happening: Daredevil Season 2 will premiere on March 18, just over two months from now. This is a week earlier than the rumored March 25 release date that began circulating over the weekend, which would have put the series up against the theatrical release of DC’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

As far as that Daredevil Season 2 trailer goes, you can check it out right here:

Fans hoping for a glimpse of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher will be disappointed – there’s no actual footage from the new season included in this clip – but his presence is definitely felt here. The faint outline of the classic skull logo and the subsequent explosion of violence may whet our appetites, but we’re guessing that much like Vincent D’Onofrio’s portrayal of The Kingpin in Daredevil‘s first season, we won’t see much of Bernthal until the show actually debuts.

But The Punisher isn’t the only new face we’ll be seeing this year: Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) has also been cast as Elektra, and comic book fans will know how crucial this character is to the Daredevil mythology. Series star Charlie Cox recently spoke to Empire (via ComicBook.com) about the addition of Elektra to the series:

“I think every single man has an Elektra in their past. If you imagine that relationship, a very fiery, very lustful, very loving and hating relationship, and then you add to that two people who know serious martial arts, you’re going to have an interesting dynamic.”

With the addition of two new major characters from the Marvel universe, as well as returning stars Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll and Rosario Dawson (and more, perhaps), we’ve got plenty to look forward to in Daredevil’s sophomore season. For now, you can enjoy this gorgeous new promo poster, and stay tuned as we’ll continue to keep you posted.
