If there’s one video game universe we all wish were real, it would have to be Pokémon. Growing up, we all dreamed of quitting school, leaving our families, and setting off an adventure to become Pokémon masters. Alas, playing Pokémon Red and Blue on the Game Boy or playing Pokémon Snap on the Nintendo 64 seemed like the closest we’d ever get. Next year, however, Pokémon training will evolve to another level none of us ever imagined possible.
No, we still haven’t gotten to the point where scientists can genetically engineer Pokémon. Niantic, Inc., Nintendo, and The Pokémon Company will be giving us the next best thing, though, with Pokémon GO. This innovative augmented reality game will permit users to virtually capture Pokemon that appear throughout the real world. Imagine being able to walk outside and capture your very own Pikachu, Squirtle, or Snorlax. Whether going for a stroll through the neighbor or shopping at the mall, you can explore your whole community in search of various different Pokémon.
This game will be available for iOS and Android devices in 2016. Of course, if you don’t have your smartphone on you, you can always use Pokémon GO Plus. This device utilizes a Bluetooth connection to notify players when a Pokémon is in close range. Players can catch Pokémon or perform other simple actions by pressing the button on this wristband-like gadget.
Pokémon GO will be available for download at no charge on the App Store and Google Play. In-app purchases will be available. If the game is nearly as awesome as the trailer above makes it out to be, this will easily be the most immersive Pokémon experience ever. 2016 can’t come soon enough as we’re all eager to find, catch, trade, and battle them all!
