‘Burnt’ Trailer: Bradley Cooper Wants to Make Amends

After appearing earlier this year in Cameron Crowe’s poorly-received Aloha, Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper is hoping to bounce back with Burnt, the story of a bad boy chef trying to put his life back together after a series of mistakes destroyed his reputation in the culinary world.

The Weinstein Company debuted the latest Burnt trailer via their YouTube page. Check it out right here.

This doesn’t look bad, but it seems like it’s treading on some very familiar territory that was previously explored by Jon Favreau in Chef. Granted, Favreau took a much more comedic approach than it seems like director Scott Wells (Shameless) is doing here, but it’s hard to ignore the similarities.

Cooper is a solid actor, and he’s surrounded by a great supporting cast that includes Sienna Miller, Daniel Brühl, Omar Sy, Alicia Vikander, Matthew Rhys, Uma Thurman, Jamie Dornan, Emma Thompson, and Lily James – but even with that impressive list of names, I’m not thrilled by the idea of watching him rehash material that’s already been done – especially so recently.

Hopefully there’s more to Burnt than what we’re seeing here. We’ll find out when the film hits theaters on October 23.

Chef Adam Jones (Bradley Cooper) had it all – and lost it. A two-star Michelin rockstar with the bad habits to match, the former enfant terrible of the Paris restaurant scene did everything different every time out, and only ever cared about the thrill of creating explosions of taste. To land his own kitchen and that third elusive Michelin star though, he’ll need the best of the best on his side, including the beautiful Helene (Sienna Miller). BURNT is a remarkably funny and emotional story about the love of food, the love between two people, and the power of second chances.
