Arrival marked director Denis Villenueve’s first foray into science fiction, and the positive reception to that film has done wonders to assuage the fears of Blade Runner fans as Villeneuve moves onto his next project, a sequel to Ridley Scott’s iconic sci-fi tale from 1982. And now we’re getting our first tantalizing look at that sequel in a brand new teaser trailer.
Check out the Blade Runner 2049 teaser below.
Harrison Ford reprises his role as Rick Deckard, and the film will find him crossing paths with Ryan Gosling’s K, an LAPD officer who discovers a terrifying secret. Nothing else is known about the plot at this time, but with Villenueve’s talents and Ridley Scott on board as producer, this could truly be a worthy follow-up to one of the all time sci-fi classics.
Blade Runner 2049 will open on October 6, 2017.
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
