I'm an Arizona State University grad and lifelong Sun Devil. I have a previous entertainment background, performing live music and sketch comedy. I'm the resident DC comics fanboy, and I've been variations on Clark Kent/Superman for Halloween at least five different times. I've also been nicknamed "Ky-MDB" because of my freakish ability to name actors and their previous works from even the vaguest description.

Movie Review: ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’

Sin City 2 Joseph Gordon Levitt 01

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is a film that does about what you’d expect from a sequel that finally hits theaters almost ten years after its predecessor – it gives the audience more of the same and not a whole lot more. Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller return to split the writing and directing duties and bring the same visually bombastic style that ... Read More »

TV Review: ‘Intruders’

Intruders Premiere Review 000

Have you ever, even for the faintest moment, had a feeling someone very close to you felt like somebody else entirely? Intruders plays on this paranoia in its premiere episode, She Was Provisional, and lays some solid groundwork for what could be the welcome return of solid, sci-fi suspense to television. Intruders takes place in the perfectly wet and lonely setting of the Pacific Northwest, and is executive produced ... Read More »

Blu-Ray Review: Muppets Most Wanted

Muppets Most Wanted BluRay 01

Muppets Most Wanted intended to strike while the iron was hot, right on the heels of the huge critical and financial success of The Muppets. While much of that film’s charm is retained in this well done sequel, it never quite reaches the level of nostalgia and meta-brilliance of that film. But with that being said, Muppets Most Wanted is a worthy and ... Read More »

Movie Review: ‘The Giver’

The Giver Review 07

The Giver could easily be considered the grandfather of all modern YA adaptations as we know them. Based on the 1993 book written by Lois Lowry and set in a dystopian future, if it sounds like quite a few other recent films of this genre it’s because The Giver came first. But the film adaptation opts rather to become a deconstruction of emotion ... Read More »

TV Review: ‘Legends’

Legends Review Sean Bean Primary

Sean Bean is headed back to TV for TNT’s Legends, but this time he’ll be far away from the fantasy world of Winterfell. Legends finds him smack-dab in the real world playing DCO (Deep Cover Operations) agent Martin Odum, who goes so deep into character that he sometimes can’t draw the line between himself and the undercover identities, or “legends,” that he ... Blu-Ray Review: ‘Batman: Assault on Arkham’

Batman Assault on Arkham 02

Get ready to root for bad guys! is the tagline for the newest DC Universe Original Movie, Batman: Assault on Arkham, but will that be the case by the time you finish watching the film? I don’t know if I’d go that far, but there’s enough raucous carnage and comic book eye-candy to keep fans watching who have enjoyed the increasingly mature content in ... Read More »

Grant Gustin SDCC14 Flash 00

Grant Gustin is the star of the most highly anticipated new show in the nerd community this fall, with The Flash on CW. Gustin is the real deal, and after having seen the pilot episode multiple times, I can honestly say he delivers a great take on Barry Allen. Warner Bros.
