Ubisoft has already announced that a new Assassin’s Creed game is headed our way, and that it will feature a new character and new time period, but the studio hasn’t officially revealed anything beyond that statement. Now it seems the folks over at Kotaku have scooped a major reveal, thanks to a photo of marketing materials submitted by one of their readers.
According to the tipster, the poster for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is scheduled to be displayed in retail stores beginning on March 4th, and gives us a pretty clear indication that the next installment of the franchise will be all about pirates. In fact, a writer for Examiner.com claims to know who the main character is, as well:
The main character’s name is Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway from Assassin’s Creed 3. Edward is known as a Privateer, Assassin and occasional pirate. The game’s location is set in the Caribbean on multiple islands including Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas.
No source was credited, but the writer also included what could be the first screenshot from the game:
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is expected to be released during the 2013 holiday season.
