Marvel fans have no doubt seen Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man this summer – so where are you going to go for your next MCU fix? How about Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returning to ABC in just a few weeks?
The network debuted the first Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 trailer over the holiday weekend and you check it out below, via Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube page:
I’ve long been a supporter of this show and was delighted that it got a second season, most of which I really enjoyed. But the show lost me a bit with the Inhumans stuff near the end of Season 2, and I didn’t find many of the characters likable or are all that interesting.
The show worked best for me when it focused more on the team dynamic with Fitz (Ian De Caestecker), Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge), Coulson (Clark Gregg), May (Ming-Na Wen) and the rest. The Season 3 trailer looks like they’ll be going the opposite way with more Inhumans – or Secret Warriors, to be more accurate – and this seems to be confirmed by the following Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 synopsis:
“Season three of SHIELD will introduce new friends and foes based on the “Secret Warriors” comic series when it premieres on Sept. 29. In the aftermath of SHIELD’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson (Clark Gregg) will search the world for more powered people and assemble an extraordinary new team to deal with threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of SHIELD will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.”
My DC Comics knowledge is deeper than my Marvel knowledge, but I’m no slouch in the Marvel universe. I will admit to not being familiar with the Secret Warriors, but after some research, it does seem to fit with the show’s current storyline since the Secret Warriors are a S.H.I.E.L.D. team of super-powered individuals, including Quake/Daisy/Skye (Chloe Bennet). What do you guys think about a weirder, more super-powered direction for the show? Sound off in the comments below…
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 premieres on September 29th, exclusively on ABC.
