‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’ red-band trailer: MacFarlane shoots a full load.

Yesterday, we got our look at the impressive cast of Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West, courtesy of a collection of character posters for the upcoming comedy. Today, the marketing team is kicking it up a notch with a three-minute red-band trailer that sets the tone for the comedy western. Check it out below.

I’ll be the first to admit that this looks absolutely hilarious, but I’m concerned that a lot of the film’s best moments might be given away here. I seem to recall a similar problem with MacFarlane’s previous directorial effort, Ted: by the time the film actually opened, I had spent so much time laughing at the promotional material that the jokes had lost some of their luster.

Hopefully that’s not the case this time around, and MacFarlane is saving the best stuff for the theater. A Million Ways to Die in the West opens on May 30.

Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West. After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.
